Liminal Places
The series Liminal Places was developed as Vancouver, B.C. is at the threshold of change. As Vancouver transitions into a different city in response to the 2010 Olympics as well as the changing ideals of both what the city is and what its values are we are left in ambiguity as to its identity. Vancouver is at a crossroad as the city attempts to rectify its advertised image with its own nature. We are left reminders in many parts of the city that these two images do not always correspond. It is interesting to observe how these reminders are ignored and moved past as if the simple act of not acknowledging them will make them cease to be. Thus not only the city itself is in a liminal state but those who live and visit Vancouver are as well.
